Here is my N scale version of SRMW's Millett Creamery. Like so many great craftsman kits, it was only available in HO scale, but as I enjoy scratchbuilding, I decided I just had to build it. To ease some construction, I used DPM modular walls for the brick sections. Because of this the window treatment is a bit different than the original, but I have gone more for an overall look, rather than an exact copy. Windows are Grandtline or Tichy, and all the rest, including the freight doors are Evergreen Styrene sheet and strip. The stucco is done using DecoArt sandstone paste. Stone foundation is Slatters stone sheet & steps are plastruct. Here is the rear brick section. weatherboard office section (1mm clapboard siding) Centre section is 2mm thick (1mm laminates) styrene with brick sheet attached and stuccoed. Some brick work shows through. Side brick section window openings were filed out slightly to fit GL windows. End wall is modified plain wall. Here is a trial fit of the main sections.
Completed side brick section. The tar paper roof is fine grit sandpaper. The corrugated roof is an Australian product, but I think similar ones are available in North America. Front and rear of stucco section with windows & doors in place and sub-roof in. Completed office section Completed centre/office /rear sections together Front of completed sections. Rear of completed sections Completed model with loading docks and water tank in place. Regards Rob Goslin |
