guild_mar_23_09_005.jpgNot wasting any time, this kit was found in my mail box. Within 8 hours of romping in the shop I was done. Well I did not get the decals done as I am not sure what the new layout will share the road with.

guild_mar_23_09_008.jpgThe parts are made of wood and were very easy to handle. The one thing I really like about this kit is the strategic use of 2 sided tape. The tape gives you a very clean and strong connection, eliminating squeeze out of glue.

guild_mar_23_09_009.jpgFirst step is to stick the frame to the deck using the 2 sided tape. The lead weight provided for weight was too big, so we cut it down. We placed the cut piece into some spare space

guild_mar_23_09_010.jpgWe used some glue to really create a flat and solid deck. Let this dry completely to make sure it is flat. You can start to see the real smart detail added to the kit. When talking to friends about this kit, about the under frame detailing, they were pretty surprised to hear it was so well done.

As the instructions state, next step is the side frames (ahh wrong word) using small dabs of wood glue.

guild_mar_23_09_014.jpg Next we glued the bolsters to the subframe. We centered them by pushing a key down the hole and let dry.

To accomplish the next step we need to identify the two different spaced crossed braces. The short spaced braces go on the ends and wider in the middle. Glue them in place.

Place the long braces into the cross brace slots conforming to the bend. Glue and let dry.

Place the brakes and other details on the under frame.  Run the brass wire brake lines and glue in place. Bend the steps and attach them with CA glue.

Tape off the deck and paint the under frame your desired color. After the paint is dry apply a layer of dull coat. After the dull coat is dry add the bulkheads per the instructions.

A very interesting build that did not challenge me too much at all. It doesn't happen very often that a model will send me into a marathon build anymore. That is exactly what happened here. I look forward to building a few more with the wife as I am positive she will get that same kick I had.
