Scratchbuilders Guild was created very innocently on Saturday, September 15, 2007, with the title "Got my Digitrax today." Starting the blog as a layout progress site seemed such a common thing, at that time. In the next few months, Ron wrote articles on scratchbuilding trees, a plaster school house, and a kit-bashed Bunk Car. With each article, the writing skills improved. As time went on, people started coming. Day by day, we saw numbers starting to rise. It was at this time, Ron contacted a Canadian craftsman manufacturer for a new thing, for visitors to watch, as the build happens. Full Steam Ahead was that company, quickly followed by BEST Trains, Frenchman River and Clever Models. All the packages became too much for Ron's small family to take on alone. Sunday, February 17, 2008, we welcomed Scott Jay. After a small round of negotiations, Scott was recruited and added his first article titled "Ballasting Part 1". Soon after completing his article, Ron sent Scott a few models, so he could meet his new site obligations. Many, many edits later we find ourselves with even more traffic, 10, 30, 50, 70, 90 per day. The numbers of unique visitors kept rising. Not only that, but many were coming back on a regular basis. We thank all those that visit and are happy to provide FREE how-to's that don't require payment to see the whole story. It is these turns of events, that brought on the quick rise of the Scratchbuilders Guild, and we intend to improve this all a great deal.
